About Us Sing Yung Dragon and Lion Dance Association is a young group established in 2014. Our objective is to perpetuate the Chinese culture through the art of Chinese dragon and lion dancing, which is widely performed through Malaysia and Singapore. Although we are a young group, we perpetuate the culture as if we have been here for years. Our high spirits and past experiences prove we belong in the lion dancing world.
Sing Yung has come a long way just within the years after establishment five years ago. By expanding our range of performances, we have attained a bigger performance clientele such as Waikiki Beachwalk, T-Galleria Waikiki, and as well as the hotels surrounding Waikiki Beachwalk. As we go on about our journey, we hope to expand our culture to as far as it can. |
Sar Ping Certification |
Sar Ping is a style for lion dancing, which Sing Yung Dragon and Lion Dance Association is based on. In August 2014, a few of our members flew to Seattle, WA to participate in the 2nd Sar Ping Seminar that was held in the United States. There, they had personal training by Grand Master Chan Siew Kee, Founder of the World Sar Ping Federation, and Master Albert Fong Kong Yip, Chief Instructor of Khuan Loke Dragon and Lion Dance Association of Malaysia. Learning directly under the Masters, three of our members became Sar Ping Certified Instructors.
In July 2015, a few of our members flew to Malaysia to register Sing Yung Dragon and Lion Dance Association as a member team of the World Sar Ping Federation, which was established that very same month. The World Sar Ping Federation is made up of lion dance teams from around the world. Sing Yung is proud to be one of two teams from Hawaii representing the United States. |
